Soya Brocolli Chilly

Here is a shake and toss vegetarian chinese chilly dish. Soya, brocolli…but do get creative. sweet corn, shrimp anything goes.

Here is the quick run down.

  • Cut brocolli as bite size pieces. Get the Soya ready (boil 5 min, strain in cold water)
  • Make a paste of curd, ginger garlic paste, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, chinese 5 spice if you have it.
  • Heat oil in a pan for deep frying
  • Add the broccoli and squeezed soya chunks (to remove excess water) and coat well.
  • Add 1/4 or 1/2 cup corn flour depending on quantity and coat well.
  • Fry this in the hot oil and put on a kitchen paper to soak up any excess oil.
Fried Soya and Brocolli
  • In a pan fry garlic, onion and capsicum – sqaure pieces for the garlic and onions. today we ended up cutting it too small as we had something else in mind. I prefer spring onions but we did not have any today.
  • Make a sauce with tomato sauce, chilly garlic or chilly sauce, soy sauce, vinegar.
  • Add this to the mix and saute
  • Add the soya chunks and Brocolli – shake and toss time!
  • Make a cornstarch slurry and add at the end and toss/mix.
  • Add green tops of scallions if you have any after you swiitch of the gas.
