While hiking with my wife and son at the Picchetti Ranch Preserve in Cupertino on 6/13, spotted you with your beautiful golden hue on a nice sunny day – copa de ora in the sunshine state.

Catch the sunlight, catch it some more,
gleam, bask and a glow with furore,
sway bold, a pot of gold,
but eyes shut at the sight of night,
cloudy and cold too, you might.
Orange, yellow and a red gown,
four petals could calm me down,
lessen my worries,
and take away a frown.
In coastal bluffs and foot hills alike,
happy, wild and free to hike,
guide ships and many a soul,
light up the land,
my goal, my fate,
the flower of the sunshine state.
