Himalayan Blackberry – Rubus

Himalayan Blackberry – Rubus

Rubus armeniacus with origins from the Himalayan region and native of Armenia was introduced as a fruit bearing plant in the western world. Turned out to be noxious while bearing the delicious variety of Blackberry. Ask the Bee buzzing what it found in the flower.

Rubus armeniacus flower

Oh Rubus!

cane-fruit so very delicious,

a thorny thicket, so pernicious,

invade new lands with lush promises,

bramble, mi amor, the Bee blushes,

spread like fire, encouraging desire,

ask the little Bee, what’s not to be,

nectar, the spring of life,

it’s time to jam in jamboree

No pruning would do, thickset you are,

the Prince of King county, a bounty you are,

a long voyage, here to stay,

the Bee and I take you in our fray.
